My job is to help you transform the mental and emotional turmoil you feel into greater clarity, achieving peace, tranquility, and confidence in yourself.
What is Gestalt therapy?
It is a psycho-humanistic therapy that aims to bring out our most authentic “way of being,” raising awareness of our most “automated” behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. It is a holistic and integral approach since it sees the person as a whole—body, emotion, and mind.
Basic principles
Here and now. Unlike therapies that focus on the past or attempt to modify future behaviors, Gestalt therapy focuses on how things manifest in the present, fostering the relationship between therapist and client.
Awareness. In this relationship, evident awareness (“non-verbal and emotional language”) emerges so that the person can begin to integrate, in due time, how they have built their character and personality.
Responsibility. People are encouraged to take personal responsibility for their actions, choices, and experiences. The goal is to avoid projecting responsibility onto others and to take control of one’s own life.
Contact. We observe how people establish and break contact with their environment and others. This contact cycle includes the sensation phase, the figure (focus of attention) phase, and the withdrawal phase. Understanding this cycle can help individuals comprehend their relationship patterns and explore new ways of connecting.
Recognizing what we feel, how it gets triggered, and why it happens allows us to understand who we are. What emerges from this is greater self-acceptance and the possibility of taking responsibility for who we want to be.
What are family constellations?
We’re all part of a family system with its own order, its debts, and its untold stories. Constellations are a working tool — not magic, not a mystical promise — a way to look at that web from the outside and put back in place what was out of order.
Basic principles
Order. Every family system has a natural order. When someone ends up out of place — because of a secret, an early death, an abandonment — the system tries, without us deciding it, to restore balance, often at the expense of whoever comes after.
Belonging. Every member of a family system has a right to a place, including those who were excluded or the ones we’d rather not name. Denying that place doesn’t erase it: it only makes it invisible.
Invisible loyalties. Sometimes we repeat fates, occupy places that aren’t ours, or feel emotions that actually belong to another member of the system, out of a loyalty we never consciously chose.
Looking, to reorder. Bringing the system into view lets everyone reclaim their place. When that happens, something loosens — not because we understood more, but because something rearranged itself inside.
I work with constellations as a complement to my work as a Gestalt therapist, with respect and no magical promises: one more way of looking at what holds your patterns in place, this time from the family fabric you come from.
“We often carry fates that aren’t ours. Naming them is the first step to letting them go.”
How will we do it?
MIND: Understanding. EMOTION: Presence and permission. BODY: Directed action.
1st step: We will seek to understand what is happening to you: how what you are suffering from or what is blocking you has a logical meaning. Understanding is the first step toward calm. That’s why this first stage is related to the MIND.
2nd step: As we understand it, we will give space to what it provokes, the pain it causes, and the difficulty it creates. This second stage involves EMOTION.
3rd step: Once we have understood and allowed the emotion that was blocked, we then have more freedom and security to go after what we want. In this final stage, we work on directed action with the BODY.
How does a session work?
We will conduct the sessions either in person in Barcelona or online, individually, for about an hour. We will start by unlocking the limiting beliefs and thoughts, and gradually, you will learn to let go of the emotions that are blocking you. Over time, the feeling will shift from being blocked and heavy to being more open, light, and flexible.
We will use different dynamics and techniques such as writing, body expression, meditations, or visualizations, and other tools that will help us in the process. I will give you exercises, when I deem it necessary, to work on until our next session, and I will recommend books, movies, and more so that you can deepen your work.
“When we can process what hurts us, the heart opens to others.”
The goal of therapy is for you to:
Understand why you punish and suffer so much. Allow the pain that is limiting you. Recover your energy and direct it toward what you want.
How to know if it’s for me:
You often get frustrated for not achieving what you want or set out to do. You get tangled in mental loops. Doubt can paralyze you. You feel guilt and punish yourself when you make mistakes. It’s hard for you to commit to an emotional relationship. You feel ashamed or nervous expressing how you feel to others. You believe others do everything right, and you do everything wrong. You suffer and worry about what others think of you.
In therapy together:
You will learn to value yourself and understand what you want and need. You will be able to express your emotions without feeling guilty for it. You will understand the burden of your past that has you so blocked. You will recover genuine confidence in yourself. You will develop a genuine responsibility to sustain what you feel. You will identify the beliefs that limit you and prevent you from changing.
