Staying connected to time, to the present, is a great challenge. There’s too much stimulation, too much information circulating around us, too many fronts to attend to. In that whirlwind, the mind pivots endlessly between possibilities and actions.
And in the rush, our inner world is often left unattended, waiting for a moment of stillness that will finally listen to it.
Renewing ourselves doesn’t depend on a calendar or a special date. It depends on daring, again and again, to go quiet and ask ourselves what we actually feel, beyond what we do or what’s expected of us.
The present is the only place where that encounter is possible. Not in the memory of who we were, nor in the projection of who we want to be, but in who we are now, with what we have today. That’s where the body speaks, where genuine emotion appears, where something settles simply because we paid attention to it. This is, precisely, the ground Gestalt therapy works on.
Connecting with our inner world isn’t a luxury or a pause we allow ourselves when we have time to spare. It’s often what’s missing for us to understand why we repeat certain patterns, or why something weighs on us without our knowing quite what it is. It also explains why we feel like we’re moving fast, but not toward anywhere.
Renewing, then, is returning again and again to that present. It’s choosing, in the middle of the rush, to stop and listen to what our inner world has to tell us.
And you — what is your inner world asking of you today?
If you feel like you need a space to reconnect with your present and step out of autopilot, message me.
