We Are Not Our Moods

Persona reflexionando sobre sus emociones, no somos nuestros estados de ánimo

How important it is not to identify ourselves, not to box in the magnificent vastness of the soul, with the chains of titles, passing emotional states, relationships, or possessions.

We are neither the sadness nor the anger of a moment, nor the exhilaration, nor the doubt, nor the joy of an instant, nor the anguish, if there is any. Not only emotions, not only ideas, not positions, not possessions or titles — we are so much more.

We are body and soul. We are earth, fire, air, water. Be careful about identifying too quickly with any given mood. Let’s not rush to define who we are with hasty labels, nor allow a diagnosis to determine our present, let alone our future.

Turning a compassionate gaze inward to keep discovering ourselves, to gain clarity, is vital work. If there’s confusion, seek silence, or a friendly ear through Gestalt therapy. Someone who can help us see the strength and magnitude we carry WITHIN.

If you’re struggling to shake off a mood that’s settled in and won’t let go, message me and let’s talk about it.
